Before I go on and on about this trip I want to tell you that I drove 2400 miles from Winchester Kentucky to Seattle Washington in 47 hours and 45 minutes!
On thursday night I got about 4 hours of sleep and went to work for 8 hours on Friday. Friday after work I had to get my tabs renewed, house cleaned, things packed, cat packed and ready to go, fish packed and ready to go and be at the airport at 830 pm to meet my grandmother at the airport to help her get to her bus. My flight left at 1130 that night. Well it sort of did. We pulled about 20 feet away from the gate and the plane came to a screeching halt! The pilot came on the com and said that we had FROST, (in the end of may is seattle) on the wings and had to wait for the deicer machine to dome and spray the wings. Luckily for us the deicer maching was packed away and emptied for summer so we had to wait 45 minutes for take off!
I got to the Cincinatti airport in Ohio at about 8 am and walked around. Bought breakfast and a few little souveniers and went to get on another plane to Lexington. This plane only seated about 40 people. No is was not a propeller plane but it was still REALLY small!
I got to Lexington Kentucky about 1000 am on Saturday morning. Mind you I don't sleep very well in planes or cars so I only got about a 30 minute nap on the first flight.
I came down the ONLY escalator in the Lexington airport. There are only 8 terminals and 2 baggage claims in this little podunk town. Melissa was waiting for me and she had Kate(who is going to be 2 in less than a month) with her.
We went to Walmart to get the cooler and all the stuff we needed for the trip. Ice included. Got to her moms house, loaded up the car and then headed off at 245 Kentucky time. We stopped at Sonic Burger to get chili tots, corndogs and a Route 44 (basically a 64oz big gulp) handmade cherry and vanilla coke. Yum! I now have been to Sonic burger! Then we gased up and headed out.
About 630pm we stopped at Cracker Barrel which is a southern restaurant and I tried Chicken and Dumplings for the first time! Can I say holy heck that is SO good!
After this I decided to try to sleep for a few hours so that I could drive at night so she could sleep. I tried for about 2 hours and couldn't fall asleep so I took over at about 1000pm and Melissa went into the back seat to sleep.
I drove until about 230 am until I started to see double and let Melissa know that I couldn't drive anymore. She took over but at 430 she couldn't drive anymore so we pulled over to a rest stop and slept for 2 hours then got back on the road.
I started driving again and drove until about 230 in the afternoon. Then we stopped for a short break and I decided to stay in the front seat for a while to keep Melissa company. We did some Mad Libs and a crossword puzzle together and then I got into the back to try to sleep.
Now by this time we were feeling pretty scuzzy and greasy and gross so we decided that the next trucker stop that there was we were going to take a break, take a shower and attempt to get clean. That happened at the time that I was almost asleep for the first time in 2 days. Although the shower felt AMAZING I was really tired. So I hopped back into the back seat to try to sleep. About an hour and a half later, Melissa pulled into a town call "Little America" (there are a bunch of wierd names in Wyoming) and we had lunch there, stocked up on more drinks and ice and headed out. I started to drive again about an hour later and drove til about 1 in the morning. Then got about an hour of sleep. I started drving and about 2 hours into it about 3 in the morning, on the side of the road, right ON the white line to the left on a single lane road was a buck, a deer and a baby deer. I slammed on the breaks, said HOLY CRAP! at the top of my lungs and Melissa goes flying into the back of the front seats and she sits up straight! What is going on! I said I almost hit a deer family! So after that I drove the rest of the way to home, stopping at Snoqualmie Pass for lunch, amd to let the car cool down so we could add some oil to it. We got to my apartment, unpacked her car, parked it a few blocks away, came inside and I fell on my bed, she fell on the couch and we took a 5 hour nap!
So all in all it was a good trip!
We stopped MANY times at rest stops, gas stations and trucker stops to use the bathroom because, lets face it, we are girls and we were drinking alot of liquid and caffeine to stay awake! Not to mention both of us had tumy troubles from something that we still don't know what it was!
I think the highights of the trip was seeing a Lexinton in almost every state that we passed through, (Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington are the ones we went through.) and seeing a "Unadilla" in nebraska and coming up with the lamest Armadillo jokes.
What do you call a one legged Armadillo? An Unadilla!
Then we came across Umadilla Wyoming and got started all over again!
What do you call a retarded Armadillo? An Ummmmmmmadilla!
So now that we were home resting on Monday we went crazy and went out on Tuesday....
All stops included: in the southcenter mall, Mac store, Apple store, Childrens place, Fye, zumiez, hot topic, Aeropostale, and Auntie Anne's Pretzel's. We always have a pretzel with cheese and Dr. Pepper whenver we go out to the mall together. Mattress King, (Melissa needed a mattress and not the floor for her house on post), petco, oldnavy, IKEA, outback steakhouse for dinner, PIMA Medical Institute to say hi to our old teacher, Target, QFC, Safeway and then to my work to say hi to a friend! Man! We had a long day!
And today we are going to fix up my apartment with a new bookshelf that I got from IKEA and we are going to make the existing things that I have a part of an Entertainment center. So that I can get the old bookshelf out of my apartment. It doesn't really go with all the things that I have.
I can't believe I drove across almost the entire country! We could not have done it without the GPS though. It was a system call Garmin, and that is what we called her. We mapquested and Google maped the trip and both of those said that it would be 500 more miles than what Garmin said. So we didn't question her. Even when she got on our nerves and started talking back when we pulled off the highways or freeways to take a break! we both would say "SHUT UP!" at the same time and try to get her to be quiet!
I would say that this trip was a sucess and I would definitely do it again but I think that I would take a lot longer to do it, stop at a few places of interest and try to enjoy instead of eing sleep deprived and trying to stay awake!

Zeek! (aka itty bitty kitty)
On May 14th I took my friend Danielle to Federal Way to get her a brand new kitten to replace her Missy Kit (aka Misfit). I walked into the apartment that the kitty was being raised in and fell in love with another kitty. A calico/tabby mix. This little guy just snuggled right in and fell asleep on me. That was it! I had to take him home! So I had nothing for a cat. And I mean NOTHING! My apartment was set up the way that I like it. NOT suitable for a kid or cat! I had him about 5 days before I named him Zeek. Now this cat was so snuggly and cute for the first 2 days. Now he is snuggly an dcute and CRAZY! He is so fun to watch but is like a little kid you have to keep an eye on or he will chew thru a cord or something! I am so very glad that I got him to keep me company and for me to have someone to come home to. It gets a little lonely sometimes and Zeek helps with that!
